About SVL

The Spirit and Wine Suppliers Association, SVL, was established in 1998 and is an industry association for Swedish importers and manufacturers of wine and spirit beverages.

We have more than 50 members that sell their products to Systembolaget, the Swedish retail alcohol monopoly, and to companies with licenses to serve alcohol, mainly hotels and restaurants. Together our members represent over 90% of Systembolaget’s established product range. Our members come from all over Sweden and are an important part of Sweden’s food and beverage industry and Swedish culinary culture. SVL supports the Swedish retail alcohol monopoly as it means the controlled and orderly sale of quality-assured products.

Our mission

Our principal mission is to protect the common interests of our members. SVL works for a contemporary alcohol policy, sustainable business conditions for the industry, and sensible attitudes to alcohol and its consumption. Our operational focus covers everything from production, sales and marketing through to consumption. SVL places high demands on the industry that its operations are conducted and marketed in an economically, environmentally, and socially responsible way and we also work for sensible attitudes to alcohol and alcohol consumption. Our goal is that alcohol consumption is characterised by moderation, knowledge, and interest in the product’s contents and its effects.

Our Organisation

Our activities are led by a board with representatives from member companies and a secretariat with a CEO. Day-to-day work is divided between four committees.

The CEO is Anna De Geer and the Chairman is Carl Johan Svaton.

International collaboration

The Swedish alcohol beverage sector operates as part of a cross-border industry with strong international links. Within the EU, SVL is a member of spiritsEurope, Comité de Vins (CEEV) and EFWSID. In 2018 we became the first Swedish member of amfori BSCI.
